Home-Style Macaroni and Cheese

  • 1 (7 ounce) package elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 8 ounces sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Cook the macaroni according to package directions and drain. Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour, cook until smooth and bubbly, stirring constantly. Stir in milk, cream cheese, Dijon mustard, salt and pepper. Cook for 3 minutes or until thickened, stirring constantly. Stir in the macaroni and Cheddar cheese. Spoon into a 21/2 quart baking dish sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
